Lisa Hunter, Founder
Lisa Hunter is a native of Philadelphia, PA and has been cooking since the age of 11. She developed a passion for cooking in her late teens and began serving at various churches on the Hospitality Team as well as assisting her mother, “Mom Pearl” with making her famous potato salad. Lisa always had a passion for helping people and pursued a career in social work, earning both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in social work, from George Mason University and Howard University, respectively.
She is a licensed social worker in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It was through the field of Social Work, along with her work in ministry at church that Lisa began to work with vulnerable populations that included: the homeless; our veterans; children and families; and those living in poverty.
Lisa sought for a way to move from empathy to action to help vulnerable populations in a more tangible way. This led her to pursue courses and training in Advanced Culinary Arts, at an accredited college thus merging her passion for cooking with her compassion for helping people. Through JES Catering LLC, she provided breakfast monthly at a local Homeless Shelter and provided employment opportunities to those in need.
